Samajwadi says 'Modi bribed media for his projection'

Lucknow: Trying to put the media in the dock, Samajwadi Party leader and national general secretary, Ram Gopal Yadav has reportedly said that the media has been bribed by Narendra Modi and BJP to showcase him as the `national hero’.

Virtually annoyed with media, the SP parliamentarian has asked the party workers to stop watching news channel. Instead, he suggested that the workers may watch daily soaps.

The statement of Ram Gopal, who is the brother of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, has led to speculation that the party does not want to see its workers demoralised with the news reports projecting his party’s government in UP in a bad light. Moreover, the huge turnouts at recent rallies addressed by Narendra Modi, appears certainly a cause of concern for the Samajwadi party and its leadership.

People in general were getting this feeling that the SP government appears to be shaken by the Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi’s growing popularity. This could be gauged from the fact that on almost every news channel, the programmes addressed by Modi are being religiously and extensively covered.
